Tragedy struck on Monday as not less than 10 people, including a year-old baby, were kidnapped around Takum - Wukari road of Taraba state by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, who mounted a roadblock.


It was gathered that the gunmen who were numbering about 10 mounted a roadblock near Chanchangi town, a suburb of Takum LG, located along Takum-Wukari road on Monday evening, forcing a commercial van conveying passengers from Takum to Wukari town into the forest.


A community source, Maiwada Takum, who is a relative to one of the abducted travelers, told newsmen that the kidnappers took seven people hostage.

It was further gathered from Maiwada that they also took a one-year-old boy from his mother, who was traveling on the bus. He said the van, a Sharon, was later found in a part of the Benue forest that shares a boundary with Chanchangi town. 10 gunmen mounted a roadblock near Chanchangi town, located along Takum-Wukari road on Monday evening, kidnapping 10 passengers in a van, including a baby.


According to Maiwada, the abductors are yet to call the relatives of the abducted passengers. He said the mother of the infant is traumatized and is hospitalized at a clinic in Takum.

As at the time of filing this report, the Police public relations officer  In the state, ASP Leha Reform is yet to confirm the incident as we were unreachable for comment over the incident as his line was switched off when our reporter called him.


Recall that, A month ago, Rhapsodi Affos Blog (RAB) had reported that 27 wedding guests were abducted by unknown gunmen around Chanchanji road and taken to the forest. The joint efforts of the military and army resulted in their rescue.
