At least two farmers were reportedly brutally injured on Tuesday by herdsmen who invaded a farm in Kakhi village,  a suburb of Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

It was gathered from a community source in Wukari that the herders attacked the farmers when they attempt to drive the cows out of their farmland.

The Executive Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Daniel Adi, confirmed the attack, while speaking to newsmen, he revealed that two farmers were severely injured by herdsmen in the attack.


According to him, the incident happened when herdsmen invaded farmland and started eating up the crops, and in an attempt to drive the cows out of the farm, the herdsmen brought out cutlasses and cut two of the farmers.

Adi noted that the injured farmers were rushed to Wukari General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.

“On getting the report, I quickly mobilized security men and went to the area and two of the attackers were arrested.


“I want to appeal to the people of Wukari to hold their peace and allow security personnel to do their work,” he said.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Reform Leha, could not be reached for comment as his phone line was switched off as of the time of filing this report.
