Yet to be identified gunmen on Wednesday kidnapped twenty-seven youths from Takum local government area of Taraba state returning from a wedding program along Wukari-Takum road.

It was gathered that the youths are between 18 and 22. They were abducted in a Toyota Hummer bus at about 8.30 AM when they ran into a group of gunmen between Chachanji and Kofai Ahmadu villages, a suburb of Takum LG.

It was further gathered the gunmen hijacked the vehicle they were traveling with and drove the 26 passengers, including the driver of the bus to an unknown destination.

The gunmen according to reports drove from Kofai Ahmadu village in Taraba and headed for Benue axis.

The council Chairman of Takum local government area, Shiban Tikari told newsmen that the 27 were abducted while returning to Takum.

He said no contact has been made to the family of those abducted.

He further disclosed that security operatives, as well as the youths of the area, have been combing bushes along that axis in search of the 27.


According to sources, all accusing fingers are being pointed at the notorious Ghana boys said to have been flushed out of Benue due to activities of operation Whirl- Stroke going on in Benue State.

Meanwhile, the Taraba State Police Command spokesman, DSP David Misal, confirmed the
incident.

Misal said “ we confirmed that they are missing but not established either kidnapped or otherwise. The investigation has commenced.”
