Jalingo, the Taraba state capital is set to get an additional police station as the Police Women Association ( POWA) on Saturday flagged off the construction of a 30 Million Police Station in the state.
Mrs. Comfort Baraya, the North-East zone Coordinator of POWA, while flagging off the construction of the police station situated at ATC disclosed that the Modern Police Station will cost a whopping 30Million & it is done in the bid to curtail the insecurity ravaging the state and nation at large.
Mrs. B.araya said, ATC is one of the oldest Communities in Jalingo, which is a host to Taraba State University, College of Agriculture a, and Taraba State Television, which attract a large influx of persons, among which are criminal elements that need to be deterred from carrying out their criminal activities.
According to her, the availability of a Police Station which hitherto is not there at ATC will go a long way in maintaining law and order and the protection of lives and properties of the populace.
The foundation laying ceremony hosted several high profile personalities such as the member representing Ardo Kola/ Lau, Hon. Danladi Baido, Taraba NUT Chairman, the Vice-chancellor of Taraba state university, Prof. Joshua Tenebe & lots more.
While speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, Prof Vincent Tenebe represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Admin, Prof. Nicholas said the foundation laying of the project is timely and highly commendable.
Tende added that the availability of the police station will help in curtailing crime such as rape, theft, kidnapping and bring relative calmness and orderliness to the environment and by extension the metropolis at large. He pledged to be part of the construction from the beginning to the completion of the project as he donated the land for the construction of the Police Station.
