A crippled man alongside three other farmers have escaped being kidnapped as unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted three farmers working in their farms in Taraba state on Monday.


According to a community source, the farmers were abducted at their farms along Sabongida-Dananacha in Gassol local government area of Taraba State.

Mallam Muhammadu Sabongida, one of the farmers who escaped, told Newsmen that they were working in their farms at about 8am Monday, when they noticed an unusual movement of gunmen coming towards them. Upon  noticing the gunmen approaching them, they abandoned their farming tools and started running, adding that the gunmen also gave them a hot chase.

According to Muhammadu, they ran for several kilometres inside the bush where they took cover under big trees.

The farmers abducted were a Tiv, a Fulani and a Hausa man, working separately in their farms, were abducted by the gunmen almost at the same time.

Taraba state police command spokesperson of  DSP David Misal, said the incident was not reported to the command.
