As part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID19 pandemic, Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, on Friday commissioned a remodeled GeneXpert laboratory for testing COVID-19 in Jalingo.


The testing centre is situated at the Specialists Hospital Jalingo, Taraba state capital.


Ishaku who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Haruna Manu said ; "the state government had previously commissioned a 100-bed isolation and treatment facility within the state and Governor DDI assured the citizens that a sound testing centre would be provided soon.


So this testing centre is in fulfillment of what he said some months ago during the commissioning of the state isolation centre".


The state government would also provide samples collection centres across the state which would be located at Ardo kola, Wukari, Takum, Gassol and Sardauna local government Areas.


However, the state’s COVID-19 response will remain a centrally managed emergency response by the State Government and the need to test will be surveillance driven and based on a clear case definition,“ he added.
