The chairman of the Taraba State Primary Education Board (TSUBEB), Dr Yakubu Agbaizo

has called on teachers to be patient with the government over delayed Royal Teachers Allowances.


Agbaizo made the plea on Friday while speaking to newsmen, he said, Tarab Gov. Darius Ishaku, is putting all hands on deck to ensure their Rural Teachers Allowances (RTA) are paid. He said Gov. Ishaku is committed to pay the RTA to salvage the hardship and pains the backlogs have brought upon them.

Rural teachers and they face a lot of challenges. Below he stated


”The two months arrears being owed to teachers was inherited. We appeal to the teachers to be patient as the governor is working hard to source for the money and clear all the backlog.

”It is obvious that schools located within Jalingo and other towns have a lot of teachers. But we have a shortage of teachers in the rural areas.

”We introduced the RTA as a means of motivation to those teachers being posted to rural communities.

“We have more qualified teachers in public schools than private schools but our challenge is motivation and supervision which will soon be a thing of the past, ‘Agbaizo said.

The chairman also said that the board had purchased motorcycles and would soon distribute them to supervisors who would be visiting all schools on supervisions.

Agbaizo gave the assurance that public schools would continue to give the best education to students in basic and post basic schools.

He regretted that the COVID-19 pandemic had affected the revenue base of the state.
