Spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, ASP Ubah Gaberi, confirmed the release of the victims to Newsmen yesterday, who were identified as Hajiya Asma’u Usman, who is the district head’s wife, and Auwalu Kakirani, his driver.

Recall, it was reported on how gunmen on Thursday last week stormed the house of the District Head of Bashar town, Alh. Ali Adamu Idris, and abducted his wife and driver.
The district head, who also confirmed the release of victims, said his wife and the driver were rescued by vigilantes, adding that “About hundred members of vigilante group trailed the kidnappers to their hideout around Plateau-Taraba boundary where they succeeded in rescuing the victims.” Wase youth leader, Shapi’i Sambo, who participated in the rescue operation also told newsmen that three of the kidnappers were arrested and handed over to the Wase Police Divisional Headquarters.
