The Political Adviser to governor Darius Ishaku, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa has denied any rift between the governor and his Deputy, Engr. Haruna Manu, stressing that the office of the deputy governor was not at anytime undermined.

Bawa in a brief interview with our reporter in Jalingo said the Deputy Governor has been carrying out state functions since the Governor travelled to Abuja.

He said absence of the governor from the state for over thirty days has not crippled government activities because according to him the Deputy Governor is holding forth.

"The Deputy Governor is acting and performing well. So, nobody should undermine his position and he is there and up to his responsibility. Salaries are being paid and government work continues. If he wasn’t working, workers salaries won’t be paid. The absence of the Governor has not stopped government operations. As a respecter of the constitution, the Governor does not believe governance stops by virtue of his absence from the state. Everything is going smoothly," Bawa said.

Speaking on the forthcoming congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bawa said the governor as leader of the party in the state will ensure transparency in emergence of party leaders at all level.

"It is going to be united after the congress because we are going to be transparent and the governor believes in transparency and people are going to have the opportunity of electing their leaders in the party. So I don’t think there will be any problem because in PDP we have the formula to select our leaders and we are going to follow that formula again." Bawa added.
