The Caretaker Chairman of Takum Local Government Council, Hon Shiban Tikari alongside Security Agents went to villages in Yukuben and Shibong wards in Takum having received alert on influx of refugees from Cameroun.

Admittedly, some of the communities in that axis of Takum Local Government Area shares border with Cameroun, a medium which makes it accessible for the foreigners to exploit some routes linking to the border to invade neighboring communities in Nigeria.



According to Hon Tikari, what necessitated such intervention with the involvement of the Security Agencies was not only to tackle their humanitarian needs, but on security concerns, to check if there was infiltration by those with ulterior motive who may be hiding under the guise of fleeing refugees, to start unraveling evil plans against the inhabitants and beyond.

Hon Tikari added that, though they are mostly women and children, but  thorough investigation was carried out to ensure their genuineness before humanitarian assistance such as food, shelter and clothing were rendered.



Hon Tikari, having appreciated the Traditional leaders and people of those communities for their  friendly and hospitable gestures to the refugees, also pleaded with them to keep extending hands of fellowship and assistance to their emergency visitors.

Lastly, The Council Boss pledged to continue to ameliorate the sufferings of refugees through provision of food items and medical care until nomalcy return in their homes. He added up by delegating the supervisory roles on developments concerning those refugees to the Councillors representing Yukuben and Shibong wards.
