The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Tuesday got on board two new Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs)
The two RECs ; Johnson Alalibo representing Bayelsa State and Umar Gajiram representing Borno State in the commission were screened and confirmed by the Nigerian Senate earlier as requested by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Swearing the new Commissioners in , the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu urged them to live above board, in line with the intergrity demanded of the job.
The appointment of Gajiram came as a replacement for late Baba Yusuf who was REC for Taraba State.
On the other hand, Alalibo was appointed to replace Frankland Briyai who resigned as Cross River REC to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries for Bayelsa state in the 2018 gubernatorial election.
Messrs Alalibo and Gajiram were immediately redeployed to Cross River and Taraba states respectively by the INEC Chairman , Mahmood Yakubu.
