Pioneer Miss Taraba and the President of FD Sarauniya Foundation (FDS, Miss Fitami David was honored with an award by African Youth Resource Center on Sunday, celebrating her as a humanitarian

Fitami who recently launched her foundation with aim of promoting girl-child education, preventing child labour and fostering development, peace and unity among the most vulnerable class of the society.

"Humanitarian service is something I have taken as personal objective right from childhood. And I don't do anything for any recognition, I do it because I want I better society". She said at the award ceremony at the Sheraton Hotels Abuja on Sunday.



In her own speech, Fitami reflected on the frustration she felt in her early age as a child, seeing unfair treatment of vulnerable people mostly children and the advice she sought from her mother who urged her to turn her frustration into a humanitarian service with a global sentiment.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight I stand before you as one among the vulnerable children who rose to various ranking as pioneer Miss Taraba and former Miss Tourism Nigeria. On behalf of the vulnerable children in Nigeria, I dedicate this award to selfless service and advancing the course of girl-child education". She added

The event was organized by African Youth Resource Centre in partnership with National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Colour Fest Naija among others.
