Neighbours of kidnap mastermind, Hamisu Bala, (Aka Wadume), in Tudun Wada area in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, have fled from their homes for fear of arrest by security men following the re-arrest of Wadume by the police. Tudun Wada, where Alhaji Wadume’s house is located is the heart of Ibi, the local government headquarters.

A source in Ibi told Saturday Telegraph that the neighbours were forced to abandon their homes because of the heavy presence of security men around Wadume’s house after his re-arrest on Wednesday by men of the Nigeria police. “As I speak with you now, security men are everywhere in Ibi. Wadume’s house is being heavily guarded by security men.

That explains why his neighbours have fled from town. They are scared that they might be picked up, hence their decision to flee,” the source said. Another source also told our reporter that some of those on the wanted list of the police are Wadume’s friends and associates, who are in possession of the kidnapper’s properties but have refused to submit such properties to the police. He said:

 “Most of Wadume’s moveable properties have been retrieved from some of his friends. But there are other friends and associates of the kidnapper who are also in possession of other cars and motorcycles who have fled from the town with them.

“They refused to hand them over to the police. Of course, the police are still on their trail to recover the remaining cars and motorcycles.”

Many persons said to be connected to the suspected kidnapper have been arrested by the police and taken to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, since the killing of the three policemen attached to the Inspector General Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) by soldiers of the 93 Battalion in Taraba State. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army captain who ordered the killings of the policemen, is said to be an indigene of Katsina State but his father migrated to Taraba State about 20 years ago.
