The Bauchi State Governor , Bala Mohammed , has awarded contracts for the construction of two bypass roads within the Bauchi metropolis at the cost of N 5bn .
The governor , who said this on Monday at the project site , disclosed that the two bypass roads put together were 10 .6 kilometres long .
Mohammed said the construction of the roads was a milestone for him , and “a historical moment for the people of Bauchi State .”

He said the Gombe - Maiduguri bypass road would remove gridlock from the city centre and provide seamless movement of vehicles from Maiduguri to Gombe areas of the state capital .
The governor added , “These bypasses were conceptualised since the creation of Bauchi State and they were planned to start from Gombe Road and connect the Maiduguri Road .

“The contract for the construction of this bypass access road was awarded to Triacta Nigeria Limited at the total cost of N2 , 581 , 199 , 175 . 19 .”
The governor added that the other 6 .2 -kilometre bypass road would run from Miri village on Jos Road and link the Dass Road by the ATBU.

“It features three lanes of 10 .8 metres wide and 1. 5 metres in terms of shoulders. The contract of the Sabon Kaura – Jos Road is awarded to Messrs Habibu Engineering Nigeria Limited at the total cost of N2 , 300 , 230 , 774 . 99 , ” he stated .
Mohammed said the third component of the project was a one-kilometre road dual expressway which “totals two kilometre on Muda Lawal Market Road dual carriage way and would be fully asphalted .”
