Wukari Chairman confirms killing of eight in Taraba |
The Caretaker Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council in Taraba State, Daniel Adi on Sunday confirmed the killing of eight people in his local government between Tuesday and Sunday.
Adi, in a telephone interview with our correspondent said three people were killed in Tsokondi, three in Rafinkada and two at the outskirts of Wukari along Wukari-Takum Road.
Prison official arrested over false information on Taraba governor
The caretaker chairman who said most of the victims were killed on their farms by suspected Tiv youths, called on the people to stop the killings.
This is even as three suspected gun manufacturers arrested in Wukari by the police were forcefully freed by the youths.

The youths however, mobilised and attacked the station, setting free the suspects.
But the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP David Misal confirmed the attempt by the youths to free some of the suspects in custody but that they were repelled by gallant men of the Taraba State Police command attached to Wukari division.

Misal however, said he was awaiting further information on the development regarding the whereabouts of the suspects.
In another development, there was palpable tension in the Nukkai and ATC area of Jalingo as suspected herdsmen launched attack on Kona villages in the area.
Residents who fled the area into the city centre said suspected herdsmen invaded the areas at about 6pm burning houses and shooting sporadically.
