The Force Commander of the military operation code-named Operation Whirl Stroke, Maj. Gen. Adeyemi Yekini, on Tuesday said the days of Benue notorious militia leader, Terwase Akwaza, alias Gana were numbered.

 Gana is a leader of a gang terrorizing the people of the state and parts of Taraba State.

Yekini stated that troops of the operation had put machinery in motion and soon, the militia kingpin would be arrested with his gang members.

 Wanted Gana had been declared by the police since 2017, after he was fingered in the murder of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Samuel Ortom on Special Security, Denen Igbana.

Following the murder, the state governor had promised to give N10m to whoever could give information that would lead to his arrest.

 The commander of OPWS, who is commanding the troops in Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa states, said his troops had largely decimated the wanted militia leader’s gang to a point that if Gana attempted to come out anywhere in the state, he would be arrested dead or alive.

 “As far as I’m concerned, we have crushed Gana even though we have not got him physically, we have substantially got so many of his militia men and we have destroyed all his camps, recovered so many weapons from him and even arrested his spiritual leader.

 “So, any time he steps his foot on that area, that will be his end. For us, all we know is that Gana’s days are already numbered,” Yekini said.
