The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has granted accreditation to Taraba State University accountancy department.

 The institute took the decision after the department was able to meet all the requirements for the accreditation.

With this accreditation, all the graduates of accountancy department of the University will be exempted from the foundation stage of the institute's examination and two courses in the skill level of the institute's examination.

With this prestigious accreditation, Taraba State University accountancy department will now enjoy a lot of benefits that such accreditation offers.

The benefits Include writing only four courses and five courses  at the Skills and Professional stage to qualify as a Chartered Accountant.

This achievement is in line with the dream of the Vice Chancellor Prof Vincent Tenebe to transform the state University to one of the leading University in Nigeria.



 The accountancy department of the University currently  has six Chartered Accountants among its lecturers and a standard accounting laboratory which form part of the criteria for the accreditation.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants  of Nigeria, (ICAN), is one of the  most famous accountancy bodies in the world. The institute which was established in 1964 by Acts of Parliament No 4, is a member of African federation of accountants and a board member of the international federation of accountants, a World accountancy governing board. The institute grants accreditation to institutes in Nigeria which have met all the required criteria set by the institute
