The Northern Peace Foundation a youths intellectual think thank for peace building and conflict prevention in northern Nigeria have convened a high powered International Peace Appeal Conference in Abuja. Speaking on the essence of the converging the conference, Amb.Abubakar Mustafa who gave the welcome remarks said it was imperative to put the conference together to not only create a platform to review conversations around Peace, Sustainable Development and Peaceful Electoral Democracy in Nigeria; put the spotlight on Peace Building and Individuals whom have displayed outstanding commitment to Sustainable Peace across the region whilst suing and canvassing for renewed commitment to same, including long-term development initiatives as adored by the Northern Peace Foundation; but also as we go into elections, strategically Commit and Indebt Stakeholders to reaffirm that the 2015 elections was and still is Nigeria's Democratic departure from the old electoral norm, and will continue to be the precedence in 2019 and beyond.
The Conference was organized into three parts of professionally moderated sessions with keynote address and goodwill remarks delivered by USIP, EU in Nigeria, AU and other delegations, INEC Chair, among others. Speakers upon speakers gave frank remarks and canvassed for sustained and renewed commitment to peace in the face of 2019 general elections and always.
The conference featured presentations from various INEC Ambassadors to drive home the importance of Peaceful Participation of Candidates, their supporters and electorates in the Elections.
Highlight of the conference was the Launching of the LOVE9ja campaign by the Chairman of National Peace Committee, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar and the presentation of the prestigious African Peacemakers Award to Deserving Personalities including the Commander of the IGP intelligence response team DCP Abba Kyari, former commander of Operation Safe Haven Major Nicholas Rojas. Governors Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau state and Samuel Ortom of Benue State were also award recipients at the conference.
The FCT Minister, Mr Bello Muhammad who was the Chief host in his remarks called on all stakeholders in Government and Community to unite for Peace. Speaking, He said "Partnerships and collaborations are the hallmark of Peace and enjoined all hands to be on deck in Leaving Out Violence of any sort, in Nigeria.

With network of motivated coordinators across the 19 Northern States and the FCT, The Northern Peace Foundation has been successful with staging sustained coordinated advocacy to rural youths, whose ignorance mischief makers cash on to drive violence during social upheavals; partnering stakeholders in community and Government for Peace building Initiatives; Establishment of Peace Clubs in Secondary Schools across the region; Media Advocacy including Credible Information sharing and partnership with security agencies and relevant institutions of Peace Building across the Country.
