| Katsina, Taraba, Kebbi, Zamfara lead in PVCs collection |
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) that has been collected so far.
According to the electoral body, 72,775, 502 Nigerians now have Permanent Voter Cards.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
He said: “Out of 84,004,084 registered voters, 72,775,502 have PVCs”
The figure translates to 86.63 per cent of total registered voters.
According to INEC, 11,228,582 PVCs remain uncollected as of today, adding that all the uncollected cards had been deposited at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The INEC boss also revealed that Lagos has the highest number of collected PVCs at 5.5 million while Ekiti State has the lowest with 666,591 cards collected.

Katsina State emerged as the state with the highest number of PVCs collected as against registered voters, with 3,187,988 persons out of the 3,230,230 registered voters having collected their PVCs as of February 11, 2019.
With 98.69% recorded, only 42,242 persons were yet to collect their PVCs.
The high rate may not be unconnected with the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari who is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) hails from the state.
Taraba State comes second with 1,729,094 out of the 1,777,105 registered voters having collected their PVCs, representing 97.30%.
Taraba State, home of Buhari’s major opposition, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recorded 90.66% of collected. A total of 1,973,083 persons registered while 1,788,706 collected their PVCs as of February 11.
Ogun, Ekiti and Oyo States recorded the least percentage of PVCs collected with 71.36%, 73.25%,74.17% respectively.
