Contrary to insinuations by politicians that the election materials sent by Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to conduct the postponed presidential and National Assembly election will be used to compromise the rescheduled polls, the commission said the materials were in safe hands.
This was disclosed to journalists by the director of information INEC, Taraba State office, Mr. Febian Yame on Saturday during an inspection of the materials at the INEC office in Jalingo, the state capital.
Yame while assuring journalists on the safety of the election materials, Yame also debunked rumours by some politicians that the materials would be used to compromise the Saturday’s elections.
He narrated that the postponement of the election will give the commission an advantage to prepare very well for distribution of election materials across the state ahead of time.
Meanwhile, both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have express their disappointment over the postponement of the February 16 presidential / national assembly elections.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the governor of Taraba State, Bala Danhabu while speaking on behalf of Governor Darius Ishaku said the postponement of the election to the PDP in the state was like a student who prepared very well for examination while his teacher fails to turn up with the examination materials in the class.
