The Gombe zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested one Sunday Ogar for allegedly diverting 15 bundles of mosquito nets , each containing 50 pieces .
The nets were reportedly meant for distribution in 40 government general hospitals in the Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State .
The Public Relations Officer of the anti -graft agency in Gombe , Bello Bajoga , disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday .
Bajoga said , “The arrest was made on Tuesday after receiving intelligence report that some nets meant for distribution to 40 primary health care centres , located in the Dukku Local Government Area of Gombe State , were diverted for sale.
“The goods were handed over to the suspect by a worker of the National Malaria Control Unit, Gombe .”
During the distribution of the nets , the suspect allegedly diverted some and went round to scout for a buyer , but he was nabbed in the process by a team of EFCC operatives .
Bajoga said investigation was ongoing to identify the beneficiaries of the crime , adding that they would be charged to court after investigation .
