An aspirant for the governorship race in Taraba state under the All Progressive Congress (APC) Kabiru Dodo, has been described as a relevance seeking political jobber who only comes to Taraba state every four years to run for office.

This assertion was was made by Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Darius Ishaku, Emmanuel Bello while reacting to a newspaper interview granted by Dodo. Dodo, a lawyer, had slammed Governor Ishaku noting that the Taraba helmsman runs the state from Kaduna.

Governor Ishaku had lived and worked in Kaduna state prior to his election as governor of Taraba state.

But in a swift rebuttal, Bello said Dodo can not be taken seriously by the state since all he has done is run for office without any clear evidence of touching lives.

Bello said, "Dodo can't be taken seriously. All he does is come back to Jalingo from his foreign trips after his four years voyage outside the state and then runs for office. He wants only to be governor. That's political jobbing. He comes home after every four years, try his luck, fails and then runs away again till the next season. He has been abit consistent with this pattern though. So the Taraba people know this line of business. He doesn't have the people at heart. He's more concerned about his personal ambition."

Bello noted further that Governor Ishaku resides in Jalingo to carry out his duties.

He said, "instead of challenging the governor on his records, all these people can find is about his travel records. Thats shallow. That's ridiculous. Even the leader of their party travels around without anything to show for. We can point to many benefits of Governor Ishaku's trips. For the records, Governor Ishaku lived in Kaduna state and still has family members there. What's the crime if he visits once in a while? Is Kaduna such a forbidden place to travel to even if one is a governor of another state? If all the opposition can find is travel records then Governor Ishaku has done very well. We expect our traducers to stay with the issues and engage in civil and decent debates. We call on them to appriase our records. Taraba people are more concerned with how the governor has touched their lives. Not on his geographical location per time."
