The Nigerian Police Zone 3 Headquarters in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, has distributed the sum of N30 million to 15 families of police officers who died while on duty.
The police noted that while the amount cannot compensate for the lost lives, it will go a long way in alleviating the challenges the families may be going through.

The AIG in charge of zone 3, Mr Kayode Aderanti, said this while presenting the cheques to the officers’ next of kin, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris on Wednesday.
He appealed to families of the deceased officers to properly utilize the money most importantly, for the education of their children.
Meanwhile, Aderanti also lamented the lack of drugs at the health facility of the Zone for first aid treatment of policemen while on duty.
He voiced his discontentment, during the presentation of drugs donated to the Command by a philanthropic organization in the state also on the same day.
The AIG, therefore, appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the Police in ensuring that security challenges bedevilling the country such as the notorious herdsmen crises, communal clashes, cattle rustling kidnapping and armed robbery among many other crimes are reduced to the barest minimum.
According to him, such assistance will ensure that security personnel not only perform their duties maximally but will also ensure that they are healthy while carrying them out.
Also on Wednesday, the IGP approved the promotion of 20 Police officers from the Adamawa and Gombe Commands.
The newly elevated officers who were last promoted six years ago were decorated at the Headquarters of Zone 3 in Yola comprising Adamawa, Gombe and Taraba states.
While decorating them, the AIG urged them to raise the bar in the performance of their duties.
