Former Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly,  Dr. Mark Useni, has officially declared to run for the House of Representatives. The current occupant of the seat is Hon. Rima Shawulu representing Takum, Ussa and Donga fed.constituency.  Useni is currently member representing Takum 2 at the State House of Assembly

Shawulu, a first termer, has indicated interest in running for a second term in office.

Useni also declared that the race for the Takum two seat is now an "open contest" for all interested.

Making this known at a stakeholder meeting hd in Bete ward of Takum local government, the chairman of Takum two forum, Alhaji AA Maigoro, made Useni position known and said  the meeting was called to assess the various elections coming up.

However, the stakeholders also affirmed their support for the candidacy of the incumbent governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku for the governorship in 2019 as well as that of Senator Emmanuel Bwacha for Senate.

The stakeholders said they support the interest expressed by Useni for the House of Reps contest.

Maigoro, speaking at the event, noted that the Takum two position is open to all the wards. Seven aspirants indicated their interest immediately.

Meanwhile, the meeting has been adjourned to June for further deliberations.
