Assembly, on Tuesday distributed empowerment

constituents.
The beneficiaries included physically challenged
persons, women from 11 wards of the
constituency and family of one of his supporters
killed in 2015.
The items included six cars, 45 wheelchairs, 1,
200 bundles of wrappers, 50 sewing machines,
1,500 bags of fertiliser and N10,000 to each
beneficiary.
The legislator also doled out N1. 2 million to the
family of late Mustapha Yaú, his supporter who
died in 2015, and N800,000 each to five other
supporters who sustained injuries in an auto
crash during a political rally.
Mubarak explained that the gesture was aimed
at reducing the hardship facing some physically
challenged persons and other members of the
constituency.
He pledged to institute a scholarship scheme for
physically challenged persons, to enable them
pursue their education and become self-reliant.
The lawmaker pledged to attract developmental
projects to the constituency in addition to
making laws that would uplift the people.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries,
Malama Salamatu Umar, who received a
wheelchair, thanked the donor and urged other
politicians to emulate his generosity.
Earlier, Mr Ahmed Yusuf, a former commissioner
in the state, commended the lawmaker for
aligning with his constituents, stressing that
such attitude would put elected officials who
abandon their constituencies to shame.
According to him, dividends of democracy should
not only manifest in the execution of projects
but also include material and financial
assistance to constituents.
