Jalingo – Mr Dennis Nev, Taraba Co-ordinator
of New Partnership for Africa’s Development
(NEPAD), has commended Gov. Darius Ishaku for
opening up rural roads across the state.
Nev told newsmen on Wednesday in Jalingo that
the projects would open up growth opportunities
for rural dwellers and boost the Taraba economy.
He particularly identified the ongoing
construction of Lacheke-Pantisawa, Wukari-
Tsokundi, Chanchanji-Takum and Mararaba
Baissa roads as “huge steps” that would ease
movement and boost commercial activities.
Nev also commended Ishaku for fulfilling his
promise to fix the Chanchanji bridge.
“Fixing that bridge is a dream come true for the
people; the governor promised to do it during his
campaign and it is good that he has kept his
word,” he said.
Nev appealed to the governor to facilitate the
establishment of a commercial bank in
Chanchanji to boost economic activities there.
“Bringing a bank to Chanchanji will further boost
economic activities and reduce incidences of
armed robbery attacks on traders coming to
transact business in the town,” he explained.

Nev commended Ishaku for establishing Agro
Greenhouse farm, saying that the venture would
explore available raw materials and create jobs
for the youths.
He also lauded the governor for signing the anti-
open grazing and ranches establishment bill into
law, and expressed optimism that the measure
would curtail clashes between herdsmen and
farmers.
Nev urged the governor to quickly meet the
requirements of NEPAD national and continental
body, so as to start accessing funding
opportunities for projects in Taraba.(NAN)
