BEDC and her co-travellers are currently having a field day because of the monopolistic nature of the power sector arrangment. Citizens are being treated the way they deem fit with impunity. They feel they are indispensable but one thing is sure in life, 'there will always be a solution to every problem confronting humanity.

Going through memory lane:

NITEL

The Nigerian Telecommunication (NITEL) some years ago was the only telecom provider for all Nigerians, they felt there will never be any rival hence they treated Nigerians anyhow but today even Primary School pupils now have access to telecommunication and the competition in the sector today has even led to getting sim cards free to the advantage of citizens. Where is NITEL today?

WATER BOARD:

Few years back, the government owned agency was responsible for the supply of pipe-borne water to citizens, we had taps runnig in our homes. One could be disconnected without notice, crazy bills was the order of the day, agency's personnel have no respect for citizens. We all were at their mercy owing to the importance of water to survival but today, almost every household has a borehole sunk for personal use, no more disconnection, no more monthly bills and other stresses we suffered then. Where is Water Board today?





GOVERNMENT MEDIA OUTFITS:

Some years ago, Television and Radio stations were owned by the government, you get to watch and listen to whatever the government wants you to know. All we hear was 'the government said this, it said that'. Citizens never had the opportunity to criticize government policies or bare their minds on national or state issues but today, we have several privately owned stations dotted every nook and cranny of the nation giving citizens the opportunity to speak up. The most amazing thing now is that the social media space has finally made it easier for citizens to contribute to issues from the comfort of their bed thereby having the power to influence the society. Where are the government owned media outfits today? They are now a shadow of themselves, Nigerians seldom tune to them.

I can go on and on but time and space will not permit. The point to be made is that, inasmuch as the players in the power sector think they are indispensable I have a very bad news for them today, the solution to the pains Nigerians have suffered in their hands will soon come, Nigerians will soon be free from estimated bills, darkness, monthly billing, procurement of poles, meters and transformers,incessant disconnections, crazy bills etc.

The solution will surely come, there will be no more protests, no more arguments, no more advice to government, no more legal battles. BEDC and Co will soon begin to beg Nigerians to connect to their network with incentives by then it would have been too late, Nigerians would have found the final solution. They should continue to treat Nigerians the way they deem fit, it is their time but one thing is sure, the person that pursues you equally shows you the path to take.

THE SOLUTION IS NEARER THAN EVER!
