government workers, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government
and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Yero, has said.

He said preliminary report of the
exercise revealed that monthly salary bills of workers for 16 LGs after
state has dropped from N1.4bn to less than N1bn as a result of the
on-going audit.
Yero said the exercise was being
conducted by UBA and was aimed at blocking leakages and fraudulent
activities at the council areas.
He also accused directors and finance
clerks in the LGs of promoting ghost workers, saying some of them
collected salaries of between 20 to 30 workers on monthly basis.
