Taraba State Governor, Arc. Darius Dickson
Ishaku has described the Aku Uka of Wukari,
Dr. Shekarau Angyu Masa Ibi Kuvyon ll as an
embodiment of humility and unequaled vision.
Governor Darius Ishaku said this on Thursday
at the Exco Chamber of Government House
Jalingo, when the Aku led other prominent
sons and daughters of Kwararafa kingdom,
particularly, those of Wukari extraction to
appreciate the Government and people of the
state for the wonderful support it received
during the 40th anniversary celebration of the
Aku Uka on the throne, making him one of
the longest lived monarch of the Wukari
kingdom.
Darius Ishaku maintained that his humble
and humane nature has positioned Wukari
strategically as the citadel of learning in
Taraba State with three Universities to his
credit, the Federal University Wukari,
Kwararafa University and National Open
University apart other positive impact that
Wukari chiefdom is enjoying today.
He suggested to the Aku to work towards
liaising with one of the Universities in his
domain to focally place Agriculture as a
priority in its curriculum considering the fact
that Wukari and indeed the Southern part of
the State is a very fertile ground for
Agricultural activities so that people of the
area would begin to reap the benefits of
modern farming techniques to ensure food
sufficiency in the area, the State and the
entire country.
The Governor called on sons and daughters
of Wukari to emulate the good attributes of
the Aku for development to thrive in the area,
particularly, in the areas of Peace, Education
and Agriculture to consolidate on the gains
so far made under his reign.
Governor Darius Ishaku appreciated the the
Aku and his entourage for coming to say
thank you, but however said, he is the one
that should be thanking the Aku for standing
by him and always giving sincere and candid
advice whenever he needed it and for always
being there whenever things are difficult,
describing the monarch as a rare gift to the
people of Wukari and indeed the state.
Darius Ishaku tasks the people of Wukari to
cultivate the spirit of peace, hard work and
harmonious coexistence at all times, saying
that no society progresses in isolation or in
an atmosphere of hostility and charged them
to ensure that peace takes premium for the
council area to forge ahead.
He maintained that he is working very hard
to ensure that there is perfect synergy
among the three arms of Government, the
Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary,
stressing that, with absolute harmony among
them, the state will record more successes
and informed the Aku that the state
Greenhouse has started functioning and said
very soon other areas would be explored for
the benefits of the state.
The Governor appreciated the Aku and his
council for honouring him with a tittle of
Aken-Pyu of Kwararafa kingdom, which
literally means, “the Ambassador of Peace”.
Earlier in his speech, the Aku Uka of Wukari,
Dr. Shekarau Angyu Masa Ibi Kuvyon ll, said
he and his people are in Government House
Jalingo to show their appreciation and to
sincerely thank the Governor, members of
Taraba state House of Assembly and other
well meaning Tarabans for the honour done
to him and the people of his domain during
the celebration of his 40th anniversary on the
throne, adding that, it shows the love and
respect that he has for traditional institutions
in the state.
He told the Governor that the entire sons and
daughters of Wukari, the council elders, his
humble self and family are grateful for the
good gesture shown to the chiefdom during
the period of the 40th anniversary
celebration, saying that the occasion
recorded huge success as a result the
support and assistance of the state
Government.
The Royal father equally used the opportunity
to praised Taraba state Government for
working relentlessly in restoring and returning
peace to Ibi, Wukari and its environs,
buttressing that, today Wukari is experiencing
calm as a result of his commitment to peace
and peaceful coexisten
