Hundreds of hunters from Adamawa, Gombe,
Borno, Yobe and Taraba States on Saturday met
for the annual Talala (oath taking) Festival in
Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa
State.
The occasion of the gathering included what they
called ‘fortification’ otherwise known as charm
renewal.
The annual festival brings the hunter together to
retake oath to serve humanity, particularly
assisting security agencies tackling the Boko
Haram insurgency in the North East.

Acting Chairman for North East, Malam
Mohammed Tola, urged his collagues to “remain
steadfast commitment to serve our communities
and father land”.
Tola lauded the Government and Adamawa State
Traditional Council for their support to the
members, adding that such had gone a long way
in facilitating their activities especially the fight
against insurgents in the region.
Administrative Secretary of the association,
Malam Salihu Buba, said the ceremony was to
also recognize genuine members and expose
fake ones.



Woman Leader, Aisha Bakari, pledged the
commitment of female hunters to continue to
contribute their quota like their male
counterparts.
Highlights of the occasion were the drinking of
concoction by the members for protection and
the conduction of rituals on their dane guns to
function properly against Boko Haram fighters
and enemy hunters in North East who also have
knowledge of the terrain.
