Wife of Taraba state governor, Barrister
Anna Darius Ishaku, yesterday pleaded
with the relevant authorities to
endeavour to give more opportunity to
women by considering them in the
areas of appointment. Believing that
women would perform better than men
if given the opportunity, “women should
be placed in positions of authority.”
Ishaku who made this known yesterday
in Jalingo while marking the
International Women’s Day, also used
the opportunity to kick at persons
indulging in the use of illicit drugs. Sad
that consumption of illicit drugs have
become a menace in the state, the need
for women irrespective of religion to
rise up and checkmate the activities of
their children and wards, she said can
no longer be over emphasized.
The deputy governor, Alhaji Haruna
Manu, implored her and the leadership
of her foundation (Hope Afresh) to
collaborate with the state government to
sponsor a bill that would criminalize
drug offenses in the state.
