A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that
will enhance a collaborative efforts especially in
the areas of research, had been signed between
the Federal University of Wukari in Taraba state
with some foreign universities.
The universities, as made known by the Vice
Chancellor, Professor Abubakar Musa Kundiri,
includes the university of Colorado the
universities of Wolverhampton and the university
of Manchester.
Speaking at the maiden convocation of the
university, in Wukari Local Government Council,
the V.C said the university which was among the
federal universities established in 2011 by former
President Goodluck Jonathan, has resolved
around ” forging international collaboration with
other global players in both the academia and
industry.”
According to him ” we have signed a MoU with
the University of Colorado, university of
Wolverhampton and University of Manchester”
adding that ” this agreement will be promoting
collaborative efforts in research, staff training
and exchange.”
The action, as stated by him would “undoubtedly
earn our university the recognition of being an
international player within the comity of global
universities.”
Kundiri who said the university has mapped out
plans to be ” one of the best universities in the
country” said President Mohammadu Buhari, had
approved for the institution ” a massive TETFund
intervention of about N2.0 Billion in 2017.
More to the gesture, an additional N2.5 Billion in
the next year ” in addition to N1.0 Billion normal
intervention in 2017 and N1.3 Billion NEEDS
ASSESSMENT INTERVENTION for the key
development of infrastructure in our university.”
The leadership of the institution as reiterated by
him ” shall implement this project with every
sense of economy and commitment.”
Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman
of the council of the university, Alhaji Uba Ahmed
Nana, noted that ” right thinking and patriotic
Nigerians are more then ever’ united in the fight
against corruption and insurgency.”
The federal government under President Buhari,
as made known by him ” have demonstrated
beyond reasonable doubt, it’s level of
commitment and its ability to make Nigeria a
safe haven, not only for its citizens, but to
everyone who knows Nigeria.”
The convocation which led to the installation of
the first Chancellor of the university, the Ona of
Abaji, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, as observed
by our correspondent, heralded the presence of
academicians, politicians and business giants
from the nooks and crannies of the country.
