Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State said huge sum of money was allocated to education in 2017 with a view to reviving it.
He made the statement after presenting the 2017 budget to the state House of Assembly.
Governor Darius said in line with his promise to improve the quality of education at all levels, plan was made to properly reposition the sector in 2017.
He said that under 2017 budget, education was among sectors allocated huge funds and pledged that the budgetary allocation would be fully implemented. According to him all schools with dilapidated structures would be repaired while necessary instructional materials would also be supplied.
The governor also disclosed that primary education would be given required attention through provision of conducive learning environment and qualified teachers.
He said welfare of teachers would also be a priority pointing out that retraining and training of teachers in both primary and post primary institutions would be encouraged.
