ew weeks to the end of the year, Governor
Darius Ishaku is seeking a supplementary
budget of N7 billion from the Taraba State
House of Assembly to meet up with the
present economic challenges.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly,
Hon. Abel Diah, stated this in Jalingo
yesterday while reading the letter from the
governor to the Assembly.
According to the letter, the supplementary
budget became necessary as a result of
“rising cost of governance necessitated by
additional activities, inflation and increase in
exchange rate which require additional
financial commitment in the course of the
financial year”.
The Bill, tagged, “Taraba State
Supplementary Bill 2016” seeks the sums of
N5,793,601,476.00 and N900,679,324.00 as
supplementary appropriation and
N135,759,893.00 as virement from
unexpended capital expenditure sub-heads.
Considering the exigency of the Bill, the
House set aside certain House rules w give
the Bill accelerated first and second hearing
and referred it to the House Committee on
Finance and Appropriation for consideration
and to report back within a week.
