Abuja - President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered
that the nine federal universities established by the
administration of former President Godluck
Jonathan should be probed, reports New Telegraph.
Buhari stated this on Tuesday during the maiden
Convocation of Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo
(FUNAI), Ebony State.
He said the move was to ensure transparency and
accountability in the management of public funds
and also determine the quantum of public funds
provided for the universities to facilitate the new
federal universities.
The universities are Federal University Otuoke,
Bayelsa State, Federal University, Ndufu-Alikie Ikwo
Ebonyi State, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State,
Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State, Federal
University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, Federal
University, Lafia, Nasarawa State, Federal University,
Lokoja, Kogi State, Federal University, Kashere
Gombe State and Federal University Wakari, Taraba
State among others.
Buhari according to Leadership noted that his
administration will not condone corruption in the
federal universities
The President represented by the Executive Secretary
National Universities Commission(NUC), Professor
Rasheed Adamu Abaubakar pointed out that
universities must be example in good governance
and financial management.
