The Taraba State Ministry of Justice has
recorded tremendous achievements in the last
three hundred and sixty-five days.
The State Attorney General and Commissioner
for Justice, Barrister Yusuf Nya Akirikwen who
disclosed this, attributed the successes recorded
to the hard work and commitment of the staff of
the ministry .

Highlighting the level of achievements recorded
under his one-year stewardship in office,
Barrister Yusuf Akirikwen who took over the
ministry on 14 November last year, said they had
achieved a lot.
Before he took over as Commissioner, he said
there were Thirty-eight civil cases pending in
various courts across Nigeria, saying they got
additional forty-six within the period under
review, making a total of one hundred and
fifteen pending cases.

Out of this number, he said thirty-five cases had
been disposed of, in which twenty-four went in
favour of the state government.
Under his watch, Barrister Yusuf Akirikwen said
the ministry dusted up several files of former
contractors in the state in a bit to recover over
two billion naira state fund from the contractors.
Enumerating, the challenges they faced, the
Attorney General stressed that the ministry with
eight directorates and one hundred and two staff
strength is confronted with the challenges of
inadequate office accommodation as well as
outdated library among other shortcomings.
He maintained that if all ministries in the state
will adhere to the professional advice from the
legal officers assigned to them by the
Ministry of Justice, the level of litigations will
be minimised.

The Commissioner appreciated the support he
enjoyed from his staff and the general public,
describing his one year journey as so far so
good.
