The Taraba State Command of the National Drug Law
Enforcement Agency secured 15 convictions and
seized well over 110.7kg of hard drugs across the
State in October 2016.
The State Commander of the NDLEA, Ishiaku Kwajafa,
disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Jalingo on
Sunday.

Kwajafa vowed that anyone behind the sale of the
deadly substances will be prosecuted upon arrest.
He said: “Unrepentant drug dealers will not escape
going to jail as the Command will show no mercy on
anyone caught dealing on banned substances across
the State.
“All those who test our will, will be striped bare of all
they have acquire from this illicit trade.”
The Commander used the opportunity to appeal to
parents to monitor the activities and friends of their
wards in order to detect any negative change in their
character, assuring them of the readiness of the
Command to to intervene from all directions.
Kwajafa added: “We will do all within our mandate to
assist in extensive public awareness, especially on
the identification of a drug dependent child, the
dangers of drug abuse, counseling and
rehabilitation.”

He commended the untiring effort of the officers of
the Command for their professional conduct at all
times, even in the face of stiff resistance by the
enemies of the State who see drug business as an
honest day job and would do everything to keep their
illicit income alive without recourse to the pains
inflicted on innocent and uninformed public.
He said: “Since you have sworn to inflict pains on
your fellow human because of money, be prepared
to feel the pains we will inflict on you under the law.
“I attribute our successes to the unwavering effort of
my Officers who carrying out their job as if their lives
depend on it.”
While commending the synergy with sister agencies,
the Government in the State, Kwajafa reiterated the
need for effective collaboration and partnership with
stakeholders on information and other necessary
assistance.

He solicited the cooperation of everyone in the area
of useful information that will assist the Command in
the execution of its duty, if the war must be won.
He said: “We will treat information and its sources
with the highest level of confidentiality.
“We can’t afford to lose this war.”
