State Government has been called upon to impress on the Fulanis in
Maihula Borno villages of Bali Local Government Area to return over one
hundred houses to their rightful Tiv owners.
The chief of Tiv in Bali, Ter David Gba’a, made the call while speaking with our correspondent in Bali.
He said the Fulanis are illegally occupying houses belonging to the
Tivs who fled the area during the recent conflicts in Bali, hence the
need for the Government to
intervene.
Ter David, said over one hundred houses belonging to the Tiv people
in the Bornu kurukuru village are presently being occupied by Fulanis
from Bantaji, Gindin Doruwa, Pasuki and Dogonruwa areas of Wukari and
Donga Local Government Areas.
The Royal father said recently, a Tiv man who returned to his
compound was attacked by Fulanis who had earlier killed his family
members and occupied his house.
He appealed to the Taraba State Government and the Committee set up
in the Local Government Area to resolve the conflict and work out
modalities that will facilitate the return of properties to the rightful
owners.
He emphasized that this must be done urgently to both restore and sustain peaceful coexistence in the area.
When contacted, the Ardo of Fulanis in Bali, Amadu Borno Kurukuru refused to comment on the issue.
