The outgoing Permanent Secretary and Chairman,
Taraba state Board of Internal Revenue, Alhaji
Adamu Sani Kona, is the first in the history of the
Board to generate over N4.1 Billion naira as
internally generated revenue, (IGR).

This was disclosed by the Board’s Worker’s Welfare
Association, on the occasion of the award of
excellence to the outgoing Permanent Secretary at the Boards Headquarters in Jalingo Wednesday.

In his address, the Chairman of the Association,
Comrade Manthy Felix, the achievement has
impacted positively on the Rescue Agenda of
Governor Darius Ishaku, hence the need to award
the Chairman who was also the first to meet the
budgetary provision of the Board.

Mentioning the areas in which the Permanent
Secretary has made an impact, Felix listed the
areas of Staff welfare, training, development and
capacity building, staff motivation, early promotion
of all deserving workers, payment of bonuses,
provision of office accommodation in Mutum Biyu
and Karim, to be areas he has made an impact.
Others include furniture and equipment,
procurement of utility vehicles, provision of
laptops, which improve staff capacity in the area of
ICT.

According to the Chairman, “this privileges and
commitment by the Permanent Secretary
accounted for or are the key motivators and
reasons why we were able to meet our budgetary
target .“
While eulogizing the outgoing Chairman, the
Director of Assessment of the Board, described
Kona as one who has the interest of others at
heart, a generous personality, and a professional
administrator who within a year transformed into
an astute taxman.
While responding, the Outgoing Chairman of the
Board and celebrant, Alhaji Adamu Sani Kona,
stated that he was humbled by the award and that
whatever he did was in the interest of service and
posterity. He also expressed his gratitude saying
when he leaves, he will remain grateful for the rest
of his life.

According to Kona, the parameters for measuring
success was money and that they were justified
when revenue grows.
Highlights of the occasion included cultural dance
display by the Arts Council and a full participation
of staff of the Board across the entire state and
beyond. Also in attendance were top government
functionaries, politicians and well-wishers who
thronged the conference hall to celebrate with the
Chairman.

Alhaji Adamu Sani Kona is expected to bow out of
the scene in a month’s time on retirement.
