Her Excellency, wife of the Taraba State Governor
Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku has pledged her support
for the Internally displaced persons in the state.
She made this known when she paid a visit to victims of the recent attacks in Gashaka, Kurmi and Bali in which over 4,000 of them were camped at Kungana, Bali LGA.

Barr. Anna Ishaku stated that she was aware that it
was not the only camp where IDPs were being
camped and with time she would reach out to
them all. She urged the people to desist from
violence as it would not bring about meaningful
development of their land but only destruction of
lives and property.

She called on the elders of the communities to
continue to advise the youth on the dangers of
violence. She presented them with a cheque of an
undisclosed sum on behalf of the Hope Afresh
Foundation with which they were meant to use to
buy building materials to commence rebuilding
of their homes that were destroyed during the
attacks.
The wife of the Governor further encouraged them
to go back to their villages as the rains are around
the corner and farming season will soon begin.
She presented the cheque to the chairman of
Ndola community, Rev. Joseph Nagombe who in
response thanked Her Excellency for the gesture
pointing out that there had been 6 fatalities and 7
births in the camp since the IDPs started
camping in Kungana.
Her Excellency who was accompanied by wife of
the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mrs Lois
Peter Diah also paid a visit to Sancta Maria
Hospital, Bali and Specialist Hospital, Jalingo
where some victims of the recent attacks were
being treated among which was a three year old
boy who was shot in the arm, a four year old boy
also shot in the arm, a teenage girl who watched
her parents getting burnt alive who was also shot
twice as she was trying to rescue her sister and
her cousin and a young man who was stabbed in
the abdomen.
Her Excellency made monetary donations to all the
victims in the Hospitals.
The CMD Specialist Hospital, Jalingo, Dr Rimande
Joel Ubandoma told the Governor’s wife that the
young man who had surgery is in a stable
condition and his bill had been paid in full by the
Government.
